KitchenAid Luminaire is the 2026 Design Series special edition, combining the advanced features of Artisan Plus with a fluted Italian made glass bowl, integrated bowl light and Blue Peppercorn finish. Light is at the heart of Luminaire: it improves visibility while mixing and passes through the patterned glass to cast soft reflections across the worktop.

What is the KitchenAid Design Series?

The KitchenAid Design Series is a collection of special-edition stand mixers created as complete design objects. The focus extends beyond a new colour to the bowl, materials, surface finish, controls, hub cover and trim band.

This distinguishes the Design Series from KitchenAid’s Colour of the Year programme. While Colour of the Year explores the mood and meaning of a single shade, the Design Series reimagines the entire visual identity of the stand mixer.

Luminaire continues the story of the earlier Blossom and Evergreen Design Series models, but with a distinctly lighter and more transparent character.

Light is at the centre of Luminaire’s design

Development of Luminaire began with a question: where should the KitchenAid Design Series go after Evergreen? The design team returned to the idea of a glass bowl, a material that had not been explored in this way for more than a decade.

At the same time, the new KitchenAid Artisan Plus 4.7L was being developed with an integrated bowl light. This created an opportunity to explore how light could move through glass and how the bowl’s pattern could reflect and refract it.

Light therefore became the unifying element of Luminaire’s design, influencing the bowl, colour, textured finish, polished surfaces and even the small sparkling details.

Fluted Italian made glass bowl

Luminaire’s most distinctive feature is its 4.7L fluted  glass bowl. Its design combines influences from traditional glass artistry, cut crystal, vintage china and classic French table settings.

The designers tested patterns of different depths and densities to find the right balance between decorative tradition and a clean, contemporary form.

During development, a member of the KitchenAid design team worked with the glass supplier in Italy to gain a better understanding of the material’s possibilities and limitations. Particular attention was paid to how the glass would refract the integrated light and project reflections onto the worktop.

The position of the bowl handles was also reconsidered. Moving them higher created more space for the decorative pattern while helping the bowl achieve the required strength and proportions.

A glass bowl made for everyday use

Although the Luminaire bowl is highly decorative, it is not intended merely for display. Hardened glass provides the strength and scratch resistance required for everyday use.

The bowl is suitable for use in:

  • the freezer;

  • the microwave;

  • the dishwasher;

  • the oven at temperatures up to 240°C.

This makes it possible to soften butter, temper chocolate, chill ingredients and continue mixing in the same bowl.

Clear glass also provides an unobstructed view of how ingredients combine and how the texture of dough, batter or cream changes.

Integrated bowl light: practical and decorative

The built-in LED light on the Artisan Plus shines directly into the mixing bowl. It provides a clearer view of ingredient quantities, mixing progress and texture.

The light is particularly useful when:

  • adding flour or other dry ingredients gradually;

  • whipping egg whites or cream;

  • checking the consistency of dough or batter;

  • ensuring that all ingredients are evenly combined.

Luminaire’s fluted glass bowl turns this practical light into a design feature. The patterned glass captures and diffuses the light, creating soft reflections across the worktop.

Blue Peppercorn – a warm French blue

Luminaire introduces Blue Peppercorn to the KitchenAid colour palette for the first time. It is a classic French blue with a subtle red undertone, giving it a warmer and softer appearance than many other blues.

The colour is enhanced by a textured crinkle finish. From a distance, the surface appears matt; up close, its tactile texture becomes visible.

During development, Blue Peppercorn was tested with both smooth and textured finishes. Without the texture, the colour appeared too flat and grey. The crinkle finish added depth and allowed the shade to respond more dynamically to light.

Blue Peppercorn pairs particularly well with calm neutral KitchenAid shades such as Porcelain White, Milkshake, Oat and Cardamom. It also complements Juniper green and metallic colours such as Medallion Silver and Contour Silver.

Why is Luminaire so different from Evergreen?

The previous Design Series special edition, Evergreen, was dark, natural and grounded. Its most distinctive feature was a walnut bowl, bringing a warm organic material to the stand mixer.

Luminaire deliberately moves in a different direction. Its appearance is lighter and more transparent, with glass, illumination and reflective surfaces at its centre.

The difference does not mean that one model replaces the other. Each interprets the iconic KitchenAid stand mixer through a different material and mood.

Design Series model Main design element Overall character
Evergreen Walnut bowl and deep green finish Natural, warm and grounded
Luminaire Fluted glass bowl and integrated light Light, luminous and elegant

Artisan Plus – the technology behind Luminaire

Luminaire is built on the Artisan Plus platform. Behind its distinctive design are the functions of KitchenAid’s updated tilt-head stand mixer.

Luminaire offers 11 speeds and Precision Speed Control. The extra-gentle ½ speed allows berries, nuts, chocolate chips and other delicate ingredients to be folded into a mixture without unnecessary crushing.

The Soft Start function increases the speed gradually, helping to reduce splashes and keep flour, icing sugar and other dry ingredients inside the bowl.

Which accessories are included?

Luminaire comes with:

  • a 4.7L fluted, hardened Italian made glass bowl;

  • a stainless steel flat beater;

  • a stainless steel dough hook;

  • a Double Flex Edge Beater with two flexible silicone edges;

  • a six-wire whisk.

The Double Flex Edge Beater moves along the surface of the bowl and guides ingredients back towards the centre. This reduces the need to stop the mixer and scrape the sides manually.

The included accessories are dishwasher safe.

Can KitchenAid attachments be used with Luminaire?

Yes. Luminaire has KitchenAid’s universal attachment hub and is compatible with a wide selection of separately sold KitchenAid stand mixer attachments.

With the right attachment, the mixer can:

  • roll and cut pasta;

  • grind meat;

  • slice and grate vegetables;

  • extract juice;

  • process a wide variety of ingredients.

Luminaire is therefore more than a mixer for baking. Its capabilities can be expanded over time to suit different needs.

Who is KitchenAid Luminaire designed for?

KitchenAid Luminaire is ideal for anyone who wants the precision speed control and practical bowl light of Artisan Plus while placing equal value on materials, colour and finish.

It is not simply an Artisan Plus in a different shade. The glass bowl, use of light, textured Blue Peppercorn finish and polished, sparkling details come together to form a complete Design Series special edition.

Luminaire is particularly suited to kitchens where the mixer remains on the worktop as both an everyday appliance and part of the interior.
